Hey Neighbors,
The Social Committee is holding out that the weather for Sunday will be BEAUTIFUL...keep your fingers crossed, we are not having much luck with the weather these days.
I have not heard from many of you (which is great). If I have not heard from you, I'm counting you as a YES to the BBQ! We hope to see all of you at the Khan's on Sunday afternoon at 5:30 for fun fellowship and food.
Remember to bring your special dish to share with your neighbors!
If the weather looks questionable, check your e-mail on Saturday. We will make the call for the party by Saturday morning (so I won't be stuck with pounds and pounds of BBQ!!!!)
See ya,
Kim Holland

I live on Colewood Circle and have had a little black cat appear this evening (about 1 year old). It had on a red electronic dog collar. I was afraid it would not go back home if it had run through the shock, and afraid it would get hit since it is completely solid black! I took the electronic collar off and put on a reflective collar, with my phone number written on the collar.
The kitty is very friendly and probably missed by someone!

Hey Neighbors,
We hope you have decided on your best chili recipe to share with your neighbors! The social committee is excited about our chili cook-off coming up on October 29th. We will be meeting in the Khan's driveway at 5:30 to begin our party!
A few reminders regarding the chili cook-off.
1. We will pick several neighbors to judge the chili, the winning one will receive a blue ribbon as well as the title of "Chili Master" on the mountain for a year!
2. There are no limitations on the type of chili (hot, mild, white chicken, etc)
3. If you use store-bought chili, it can't be judged!
4. Please bring the sides that you would like to serve with your chili (cheese, sour cream, crackers)
5. If you choose not to bring chili, please bring a dessert or another side to share with your neighbors.
6. There will be pizza and candy for the children (I really need a count so I will know how much pizza to order)
7. Bring your own drinks.
8. The social committee will provide napkins, bowls and spoons for the chili.
See you all on the 29th at 5:30!
Call me or e-mail me if you have any questions!

June 17, 2008 --
As noted below in the April 15 article, a very important part of this meeting will be the election of officers for the WMHA Board. Per the current bylaws, any voting member of record of the Homeowners' Association is elegible to become an officer. If you would like to serve the Association as a board member, please contact Maureen Lokken. Her email address and phone number are listed in the article below.
April 19, 2008 -- Annual Membership Meeting June 24, 2008. Our next Annual Meeting has been scheduled for June 24, 2008. While no meeting place has been firmly established, we hope to secure the Southwood facility on Carl T. Jones where last year's meeting was held. Among the agenda items will be a presentation by a Landscape Committee on a proposed plan for the front entrance, and results of discussions with Huntsville Utilities regarding improvements in the appearance of property within the subdivision owned by the Utilities. There will also be a treasurer's report, and most importantly, election of officers for the Walton's Mountain Homeowner's Association Board of Directors. All 5 officers' positions will be vacant, and persons willing to serve on the Board are required if the Association is to remain in effect. Maureen Lokken is heading a nominating committee for the Board positions. If you are interested in helping assure the continuation of the Homeowners' Association, please contact Maureen at 650-1550, or by email, MaureenLokken@comcast.net.
January 24, 2008 -- Annual Dues due by February 15, 2008. Mail to our post office box, address as above at the top of the page. Please make payable to WMHA.
June 22, 2007 -- Annual Meeting held at The Lodge on June 21,2007
The meeting was called to order by Jim Williams at 6:40 PM, with 47 eleigible lot owners present. A report was given on each of the Committees now functioning within the association. The Treasurer's Report was reviewed and each member received a copy. The Budget for the next calendar year was explained, with each member receiving a copy. The budget was approved by majority vote. The anticipated election, or the alternate choice of appointment of replacement officers to replace vacant positions, was pre-empted by the non-response of any volunteers for either nomination or to volunteer for appointment. For a posting of the minutes of the meeting, go to the above sub-menu item under Minutes, above, and select > Annual Meeting - 2007 or Click Here.

June 7, 2007 -- Annual Meeting of the Walton's Mountain Homwowners' Association
The second annual Homeowners Association meeting is scheduled for June 21, 2007 at the The Lodge building of the the Southwood Presbyterian Church at 1000 Carl T. Jones Dr. at its intersection with Tannahill. A formal notice has been mailed to each Association member of record by regular mail. Map of the meeting location.
PLEASE NOTE: One of the most important items our Association needs to address is election of Board members. We will have at least 3 board positions to fill, possibly up to 5. The uncertainty is related to the number of resignations announced by the time of the meeting. 3 resignations have already been announced through the email list.
The Board realizes that according to some members’ strict interpretation of the bylaws, holding an election of more than one board member per year is not permitted. However, due to the particular set of circumstances (resignations) we have on our hands at this point, member action is required to call for a vote for an election of multiple board members to replace those that are resigning. This would be accomplished, and would be within the bylaw allowances, if the members will call for and approve by vote, a motion to call for an election. Such a motion can be made at the annual meeting, and the election can proceed at a special meeting immediately after the annual meeting. Members should be prepared to propose board nominees. If the members choose not to call for this election, only one member can be voted on for the multiple board vacancies. Members will be given the opportunity to petition by signature for such an election as they enter the meeting place. Without a majority approval we will be unable to hold this election.
Please be thinking about candidates to fill the vacant positions.
Other items for the agenda will include the treasurer's report, committee reports, and a status of the rewrite of the bylaws.
Further information and meeting reminders will be sent by email prior to the meeting.

Hello, members....... It's been a while since news was posted to the website. The Board has been busy with various committee happenings since the last update just below, not the least of which has been the review of the bylaws rewrite. The last Board meeting was on March 27, as stated in the news article below, and since that time, a draft set of bylaws was written by a resident attorney, who recommended that we go with a new set of bylaws rather than try to modify the Developers bylaws since there is so much in those bylaws that pertained to the developer's interests that needed to be eliminated. It is interesting that in the time frame just preceding the attorney's writeup, comments were again solicited from the Association members to help gauge the pulse of the neighborhood about the Bylaws we inherited from the Developer. The attorney reported that NO comments were received, so the writeup proceeded and was then presented to the Board for their impressions and then to the Bylaws committe on 4/5/07. Comments from the committee members were noted, and a marked-up copy then presented by the Bylaws Committee chairman to the Board on 4/12/07. This resultant version then went back to the committee. The committee's inputs were then incorporated and the results sent to an independent attorney. That is where we are as of this posting. Some recent questions on the committee's actions have been critical of the progress made due to some individuals twisting the explanations given them by the Board members. It is unfortunate that the work put in by the Board and by the Bylaws Committee seems to have been met with criticism by a few members who seem determined to fault the efforts being made by the Board and the Bylaws Committee to get an acceptable set of bylaws in place for the Homeowners'Association.

"Thanks to Rena Webb, the Huntsville City School System is now sending a bus to Walton's Mountain going to and from Jones Valley Elementary School. If you are interested in your child riding , please contact the Transportation Department at 428-8350 and speak with Kathy. The bus picks up at approximately 6:50 a.m. and drops off in the afternoon at approximately 2:25 p.m..
HOMEOWNERS: Please remember to stop when you approach a bus stopped in the street with the sign extended. We currently have 6 children from this neighborhood riding the bus. Two days in a row, I have witnessed cars not stopping for the bus. OUR children are crossing the street in front of the bus. Please be careful!! "
